The Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park had its September meeting in the Old Mill on Sept. 7, during the downpour of tropical storm Lee. Tony Ingraham tooks some pictures and video of the high water in Lucifer Falls and Fishkill Creek. (To see a video that includes this footage, click on the photograph below.)
Tony called the park this morning to check on the status of the trails after the flood. As might be expected the upper section of the Gorge Trail is closed and stone masons will have to work on getting damage repaired. The Rim Trail and the rest of the Gorge Trail (from the wooden footbridge just downstream from Lucifer Falls) are open. The Gorge Trail at Buttermilk Falls State Park is closed for the time being, but the Rim Trail and other trails in the park are open.

- Before the meeting, Tony Ingraham took this photograph of Lucifer Falls at about 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7. The waters rose much higher during the night, damaging the Gorge Trail in the upper gorge, which section of trail is now closed for repairs. To see a video that includes footage of Lucifer, Fishkill Creek next to the Old Mill, as well as Buttermilk Falls and Ithaca Falls during this flood, please click on this photograph.
