Our archeology walking tour of the site of the Hamlet of Enfield Falls is a reality. On this short route, you go from building site to building site of this 19th century “agricultural service hamlet” and tourist destination and get insight into the community that was here and what life was like before the state park was created in the early 1920s. The Old Mill did not stand alone!
Each location on the tour has undergone excavation and analysis since 1998 by Cornell Prof. Sherene Baugher’s archeology classes. Brief interpretive signs such as the one below explain what was once here and its role in the community. In addition, there is an archeological walking tour brochure available in the Old Mill. You can find a pdf of that brochure here. Just click on this link:

As the mill is not always open, you my not be able to get the brochure. You can ask at the park office, or you can print the brochure from the link above. It may not, however, fit exactly on a standard sheet of paper.
The walking tour brochure and the interpretive signs were created by Brant Venables and published by the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park in 2010.
